About

Welcome to Cul-de-Sac Cats, a blog about neighbourhood cats, acrylic paint, and the often messy process of learning to be an artist.

It started with a simple idea: paint the cats I see around me. Every neighbourhood has them. The confident ones stretched out on garden walls, the curious ones peering through hedges, the elusive ones that vanish the moment you reach for your camera. Each cat has its own personality, routine, and favourite corner of the world.

Through acrylic painting, I’m trying to capture not just the cats themselves, but the places they inhabit. The ordinary garden fences, driveways, flower beds, alleyways, and quiet suburban corners are as much a part of their story as the whiskers and paws. My goal is to create portraits that celebrate both the animal and its environment.

This blog is also a record of my journey as an aspiring artist. I’m not an expert and I have no pedigree. Instead, I’m sharing the successes, mistakes, experiments, and lessons that come with developing a creative practice. Some paintings work, some don’t, but every one teaches me something.

So if you enjoy cats, art, or following someone as they learn a craft one brushstroke at a time, you’re in the right place.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy meeting the cats of the cul-de-sac.
